Academic Fair ‘Showcase’ (20/10/12)

Academic Fair ‘Showcase’ was organized in Orchids-The International School on 20.10.12. To start with, ‘Shaan-e-Awadh’ attempted to capture the essence of Lucknow in the students’ lobby. ‘The Rumi Darwaza’ the imposing gateway in Lucknow, opened the doors to the Academic Fair. Varieties of work of Chickenkari- Shadow, Murri, Tapchi along with Zardosi were exhibited. Antique furniture and crockery was also for display. Marvellous Moghal art on ‘Bhojpatre’ adorned the glasses. Shatranj players were blissfully engrossed in their play demanding all concentration. The special delicacies of Lucknow enticed the visitors to have a taste of the land. A PowerPoint presentation informed all that we need to know of Lucknow, one of the most attractive tourist places. The Kathak form of dance mesmerized the audience.

The junior classes beginning with PP1 – class III showcased fruits and vegetables, community helpers, festivals of Andhra Pradesh, animal and plant kingdom and different seasons. Classes of IV and V together presented working models of human body systems and banking system clubbed with basic concepts of Mathematics. The junior wing had separate focus given to English, French, Hindi, Telugu, Science and Social. Art projected ‘Best out of Waste’ and fashion trends. The Senior Wing had marvellous exhibits of Science, Social, Math and Rubik’s cube. Languages English, French, Hindi and Telugu presented skits, characterizations, dance and narration along with models. All the students gave their best which made their work amazing.

The entire school gained a lot of experience through participation in the Academic Fair which, certainly, is very important to the educational development. The students identified their interests and skills, polished their abilities and extended their educational experience of the classroom. The projects encouraged students to design and implement, promote analytical skills and foster creativity. As a team working for a common cause, they learnt to cooperate with parents, teachers and their peers. Their combined efforts contributed to the design, implementation and success of ‘Showcase’ of Orchids. Mr. Gurunadkarni, chief guest for the occasion congratulated the students and staff members for the excellent exhibits.

Exhibition of paintings by the students, art teacher Mr. Santosh and our Principal Mrs Mona Mehdi, formed a special attraction of the day.
